Did you zubedy today?

Many Colors, One Race.

Banish the idea of segregation through the difference in colour, creed or culture. Instead, revel in the diversity of our world.

Love Thy Neighbour. This is a simple sentence, but how many of us truly understand and practice this? Even if we do understand and do so, but to what degree? It's time we learn a very valuable lesson from our very, very young children. The really young children who have yet to be influenced by caregivers and family members do not discriminate. They sense only the kindness in a person. It's only when they grow older and begin to understand more, that the influence of the loved ones - unconsciously or otherwise - begins to mould and shape these young absorbent minds.

"...the first of Unity offerings under “Many Colors, One Race” a banner for products and services that will bring together Malaysians and later the world to become One, while keeping the splendor of our diversity intact."

~ excerpt from an article by Anas Zubedy

A wonderful piece by Mr Zubedy. And because of his belief in unity, I use the name Zubedy as a noun. Hence the question, "Did you zubedy today?" Did you lend a helping hand without even an unconscious thought of any kind of discrimination today? Did you promote and practice unity today?

It is not too late. It is NEVER too late to zubedy.

note: I do not know Anas Zubedy, or do I have any connection or affiliation to him or his company or his organisation. This posting written simply because I admire Anas Zubedy's ideology and his courage to speak up about and promote unity. Syabas Anas.

alright, have it your way then

recently we met up the siblings for lunch and a couple of friends came as well. like us, they are also new parents. as usual, the moms will get together and swap baby stories and experiences. when i mentioned that i can't take seafood as i'm breastfeeding, the other mom gasped and exclaimed that she's been walloping seafood all these while. she turned to her baby's dad and told him that.

instead of saying that it's ok, just don't take anymore in future; he just mumbled, "aiyah, nothing one lah, don't bother lah".

eh, hello? if you don't know what's good for your kid, then listen and learn lah. seafood and shellfish triggers allergies in young babies and toddlers. you're lucky your child didn't react to it.

well, there are parents like that. who don't really bother. i'll just wish them good luck and all the best for your kid. i used to share baby-care knowledge enthusiastically. i've stopped doing so in the last couple of months. i realise that most parents are not really open minded enough to listen and learn about the best care for their child. as for me, if there's something i don't know, i'll ask and find out all i can coz nothing is too good for my lil one.

eh mamak, be proud of your fame lah

here in malaysia, when we hear the word, "mamak" the first thing that comes to mind is the mamak stalls selling all sorts of affordable yummy food.

mamak is actually a term for indian muslims. true as it may be that they also excel in other fields and industries, it is the mamak stalls that brings their fame many, many notches higher. in fact, mamak stalls are a way of life for us malaysians, regardless of race or creed. it's a malaysian tourist attraction, or to term it more aptly, a malaysian-must-have.

these stalls that we can always find anytime of the day or night, 24/7 is the bloodline that intergrates the "muhibbah" spirit of us malaysians. this spirit of racial integration is what gives us malaysians our diverse and colourful culture.

would malaysia be the same without our beloved mamak? no way lah! no mamak?? where can?!?

i'm proud of our mamaks... wouldn't you be?

JJ and Rudy of recently made a parody "i got it from my mamak". very apt anthem for our yummilicious mamak stalls.

i'm going to my fav mamak stall now. "... aney, teh tarik satu, kurang manis; setengah masak dua..."

happy birthday to me..........N O T !!!

blekh! i had a shitty new year's day and a shitty birthday this year. spotty with itchy chicken pox!

i was having the chills and fever and achy joints and muscles a few days before the new year. and on new year's eve i developed some red spots on my arms and i was so afraid that it was dengue fever. went to the doctor and he said that it's not dengue but i have a viral infection. gave me antibiotics (antibiotics to fight virus??? since when is that possible!) and sent me home. the next day i woke up and felt a blister on my abdomen. went to hubby and asked him if it's chicken pox. he took one look and said yup, that does look like chicken pox alright. hmmm... better stay away from my baby boy.

went and googled about chicken pox and found that it has a 10 to 14 day incubation period. dang! that means i caught it before Christmas. and moreover, it starts to be infectious 2 days before the pox starts showing. that could mean that my baby is already infected.

later in the day i went to the doctor (again..) to confirm that it was chicken pox. i got the same lousy doctor again. this scruffy quack who took one look at my abdomen and all he said was.."yup, yup, yup...yup, yup, yup" his bedside manner is was worse than gregory house m.d. minus the obnoxious charm. this dude was just scruffy, smelly and unprofessional. i mean any doctor worth his 2 cents of salt would have known that it could be chicken pox when he saw me the day before. stoopiad farker. pigi-dah!

so, there it is, a spotty birthday for me this year.

i have not been posting at all for the past few months and been quite erratic in the months before that. this is because.........?? i was pregnant and now i'm a MOM!! i'm so busy with my lil boy and i couldn't find time to blog, or if i'm on the net, i'm too lazy to write or pick any of the choices i have below:

no time
too lazy
sleep deprived
cleaning poop
entertaining the lil one
lil one's bawling
time to feed the boy
beddy-bye time
splish splash time

but it's all good :) as all those who have taken the path before me said, "it's very tiring but it's worth it." it is very exhausting, physically, emotionally and mentally, but it's definitely worth every sleep deprived minute. we love Jon to bits!
